Cancun Underwater Museum
Divers will love exploring this unique underwater museum, filled with over 500 sculptures. The museum was created as a dedicated space for Cancun divers to explore, preserving local coral reefs. On repeat visits, you’ll notice that the sculptures change over time as they become more integrated into their aquatic environment, so there’s always something new to see! If you’re not much of a diver, never fear: snorkeling and sailing are alternate options. MUSA provides tourists with same-day training on snorkeling safety. You can also view its magnificent sculptures from the comfort of a boat deck, looking through its glass-bottom hull.
El Meco Archaeological Site
These lesser-known ancient Mayan ruins date back to the third century and formed an important port for Isla Mujeres. Because the site is not known as a hot spot, it’s a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and take in a piece of history without the crowds.
